Cough, Cough

I do not recall ever having such a chest cold. It is one of those summerthings and they are usually worse.

My son had a cold. He did not realize what it was for a couple of days. He mostly was coughing and his throat was sore. It lasted for about a week.

I woke up this morning with a cough. It is now late afternoon. Every time I cough I feel like my throat is being ripped out.  I am feverish and cold.

I try not to cough but every once in a while it explodes all by itself.

We went to the drug store to grab some over-the-counter medidineso I will be able to sleep tonight. And I loaded up on cough drops even though they feel like crucshed glass to my throat.

My wonderful son is making supper tonight so I won't have to cook. Bless his heart.

After I eat I will take some of that night time liquid and I will sleep all night.

I know I will feel better soon. But Oh how I hope it is a fast soon.

Now that I have complained I will sign off.

  1. I hope it's short, short, short! It's been years since I've been sick, knock wood.

    1. Thank you. For two days that I had no voice and that is frustrating. I slept a lot for three days and I think that helped. I wish this on no one,

  2. Nothing worse and when I start coughing it goes on for months so I hope you heal quicker than I do! Take care and try to rest, glad your son is cooking for you. Diane

    1. We have been eating a lot of sandwiches and canned food. It is not the best thing but I guess soup is soup. Unfortunately this thing has now moved into my head. Now my nose is running and my brain feels swollen. Ugh. Poor me.

  3. I hesitate to put it in print but I feel pretty good today. I seem to remember grown-ups saying that if you treat a cold it will last for only seven days but ignore it and it will last for a week. Sounds about right to me.

  4. Oh, I had this coughing bouts about a month back. I read online to boild milk with crushed garlic and drink so I gave it a try. And I seemed to have aced it. No more coughing after two days of drinking this.

    Hope you get better soon.

    1. I have heard of that before. I might try it if I ever have the same problem. I do not know if I could handle the taste.

  5. With Jilda's compromised immune system, I get aggressive with any kind of bug. I'll go to the emergency clinic (It's like an after hours place that you can see a doc quickly) and get shot up with steroids. And, if there's any chance of infection, they load me up on antibiotics.
In that past, I would usually self medicate and get over most of the bugs by myself, but I can't afford to give her anything that might cause her serious problems.

    1. Jilda's is a special case. She needs to be especially careful. I was a bit worried about pneumonia because it centered in my chest. As we get older we have to be careful of things like that.

    1. Yesterday was the first day I felt completely well. This is the first cold I have had in a long time. I suppose I was overdue.

  7. I am reading this post well after the time of your not feeling well, Emma, and by now that discomfort is a past memory (I hope).
