Only my two older boys knew my brother and they were so little that there are few or no memories. Yet all of the children know about my brother and honor his memory.
My wife lost a cousin at Pearl Harbor. My dad survived a Navy stint in World War II. Memorial Day is a sacred time, not a day to go water-skiing at the lake. Thank you for this post.
Memorial Day was extremely important to my father too. Every year we made sure the graves were cleaned and properly decorated. Reverence needs to have an example to continue.
Love and light.
ReplyDeleteTo you I wish the same.
DeleteRespect and condolences.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThanks to your family members for their service. Pat's family lost a brother and uncle who died in WW II in Naval service.
ReplyDeleteI thank them also.
DeleteOur army guys are very special, they all need to be remembered. Take care Diane
ReplyDeleteAll people who serve and protect are owed our respect.
DeleteGreat honor to them.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences.
ReplyDeleteI lost an uncle at Pearl Harbor. It was before I was born, but I never let a Memorial Day pass that I don't think of him.

DeleteBeautiful post. Full of pain but also of love.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
You forgot pride. When my brother died my father was so proud of him and so hurt. It was the only time I ever saw him cry.
