I Am Thankful...

I am thankful for my children. I always wanted to be a mother and they have brought me such joy.

My children gave me grandchildren. They have made my life so much brighter.

My grandchildren gave me great-grandchildren. They are a special gift.

I am thankful I had the parents I had. They loved me no matter what. I knew I was loved. They gave me brothers and sisters who gave me nieces and nephews and so on.

I am thankful for the family I married into. My second parents welcomed me and made me a part of a big wonderful family.

I am thankful and proud I live in my country. I am especially thankful for the little part of my country that is my space. I am so content here.

I am thankful for my health. I am 74 years old and still hobbling along. Neither of my parents lived as long as I have so I feel fortunate.

I am thankful for my internet friends. There are so many wonderful people in the world. I am thankful to know a few of you.

Please have a Happy Thanksgiving.

What are you thankful for?

  1. Dear Emma, isn't that wonderful to have so much to be thankful for?
It is worth to remember that, because many people complain too much. I am thankful for my life, really I am. And knowing you through your blog is a great gift too, thank you Emma! xxx

  4. I am ahead of you in years but behind you in great-grandchildren. Our oldest grandson has been married one month now, and our second oldest grandson is planning to propose on Wednesday night. It may be a little while yet before we have great-greats.

I am thankful for all of our children and all of their spouses. I am all too aware that many people cannot say that.

I am thankful for my parents, for without them I would not be here. Although I never met my biological father, I have found out who he was and have done enough research to know who his parents and grandparents were, where they were born, and where they are buried. It give me a bit more stability than I used to have. I am also thankful for the man who raised me, my stepfather (although I never think of him that way; he's my Dad). That relationship was a bit rocky at times, but the good Lord has brought me to a place of peace and tranquility. I'm thankful for that as well.

I'm thankful for food on the table and a roof over my head, for shoes on my feet, for feet (a lot of veterans of the Afghanistan conflict don't have feet any more).

I am thankful for my country and pray for it daily. We are in a terrible mess nowadays and some would like to see it disrupted and dismantled. I hope they fail. Our country is not perfect (no country ever has been) but it has come a long way in righting wrongs. Awhile ago I stopped saying "God bless America" (he has done so abundantly) and started saying "God save America."

I am thankful for the woman who has been my wife for 58 years now. I pray we have many more happy and healthy years together.

Being thankful is an everyday process, not just once a year at Thanksgiving.

    1. You will love being a grandmother. I think the difference is that your children love you and depend on you. Your grandchildren adore you. And they will expect lots of food.

  7. I am late in reading this post, but you have expressed so many things to be thankful for and it was a joy to read. I am thankful for my remaining family, small as it is, my husband and his love and friends including all the blogger friends I may never met. They are still considered good friends.
